I have been prodded by Heather Duncan (c/o 89) to spark some convo in here. At our U of I alumni site, we have been chatting away about Kenwood, and she said we shouldn't leave our home dry and boring....so lets jump it off!
Once again I raise my glass to the memory of Ms. Weiss who taught the psychology courses. Crazy as a bedbug and twice as real.
Also to Mrs. Huizenga in foreign languages and Mr. Osada in English (though he left before I graduated).
Ms. Weiss was both eccentric and talented. Did she ever smile? I don't recall. I remember all the dust kicked up because she would wear a pentagram charm on her necklace--freaky! The girl did have skillz when it came to teaching Psych! After I got over my initial apprehension of her quirky self, I actually enjoyed that class!!!
Mr. Osada was cool, though I never had him for English. He headed up the Kaleidoscope, for which I contributed artwork. I believe he left some time in '86 or '87. He came back to visit once and told me he'd been promoted to a loftier position. He even had me inducted into the Quill & Scroll Society before he rolled out...
Does Mr Novoshevski ( Mr Novo ) count ? The man could give you 3-5 days in house like it was going to be fun for both of you. Joyce Brown was so fine cats came to gym just to see her . But Emma Brown had the Junk in the Trunk . Dorothy Taylor was a fairly new teacher in 82 and she did a flip in class to get the class to be quiet. Nothing like your hot 28 year old teacher doing a flip in a pant suit in front of a class of horny freshmen boys to get their attention . And who the hell couldn't remember Mr. Bodie or as we called him Ollie Bodie and the forty thieves , country as hell but he was cool as hell too. I remember Ms. McLinn didn't have any ankles and my freshman year my mom made sure I got my art credit , 30 girls in choir only 4 boys and just my damn luck one quiet dude came to the front of the class so she could figure out if sang tenor or bass . This bastard could sing like an angel ( his trial should start next week with jury selection over) . Nothing against him but how the hell were we supposed to compare to this cat? Needless to say all the other boys got C's and D's
Yeah, Mr. Boddie seemed perpetually pissed when I was in his classes. Somehow, my work was good enough, complaints aside, to earn straight A's. That same guy of whom you speak used to sing during the Music Appreciation class I took under Ms. McLin. She didn't have ankles, did she?! Damn!!! LOL!!! Whatever happened to her?! And was Dorothy Taylor the English teacher? If so, I had something of a crush (horny...male...13...need I say more?) on her. However, she rolled out halfway through the year because she was pregnant...
Emma Brown, as much as she beat up on me in Gym class was really good to me. I was invited to play on a Soccer team that traveled to Sweden. I could not afford the plane ticket and my dad was too cheap. She found out that I got picked as the starting goal keeper and she got the school to pay for the ticket. I thought she was just tough, but she really cared about us.
I remember many a young men who would talk about how nice looking Ms. Brown was? I think you males had it easy at the wood Mace. I don't think you had it easy I know you had it easy! You had options like Ms. Taylor and the Browns. While the females had pervs like Rich & Mr. davis! Uck! My favorite was the up and down was Willie Mae Sullivan! Hands down!
Oooooh, you may be right I remember Ms. E. Brown, boy she was...she had a...um...well she was cool. :-) Funny thing...I ran into her one day a few years ago at Valois with my uncle...awkward moment...lol
Man I'd have to go with Ms. Stein since I see her all the time...best English teacher in the world...which incidentally is the reason I can use the word "incidentally" in a sentence...lol
Yeah, Huizenga was cool too. And Biology teacher, Ms. Woods (with her 4'10" self).
Number one had to be gym teacher Mr. McBride...I'll never forget how he almost let Wendy Charles drown in 8AM swim class and almost severed my head with that volleyball against the wall to get my attention. What fond memories!
