I have yet another issue with my daughter and the band :-)! I decided to take her to my alma mater homecoming this weekend in Alabama. It just so happens to fall on the same weekend as her highschool's homecoming. So the band is performing for the game friday night. Since there is officially no school that friday and mon. for Columbus Day, I decided we would leave for Bama Friday morning. So I emailed her band director to tell him she would not be performing Fri. night and why. I explained that she would be getting a chance to see a college marching band up close and personal, and maybe he could allow her to do a report or something for extra credit. I promptly responded and told me that her grade would be impacted by her absence by one letter grade!!!!! Can you believe how extreme that is? Anyway, I decided I am going to make her do some kind of report anyway, but I am trying to decide what kind of topic would be best. Can you offer any suggestions? I was thinking she could point out the differences btw highschool band and college band, what do you think?
